8 Badass Budget Busting Marketing Solutions You Can't Afford to Miss
Asheville, NC 7:47 AM
Everyone’s always saying that they can’t afford marketing. To stop that, I’ve listed ways for the average Joe or newbie market for little to no cost. Ad’s, Influencers, Gurus, Teachers, Coaches, Business owners, Chief Marketing Officers, and copywriters can all benefit from these. It ends up saving time and money ANDDDD you don’t have to fight for online spacing as much.
So enjoy these 8 budget-busting, ‘happy wallet’ solutions to help you market your service.
Flyer & Sticker Drops:
For some odd reason, most consumers love to put logos on things. From laptops, cars, books, phones, mirrors, doors, walls, airplanes, big rig trucks, other pictures, trash cans, and I’m sure hundreds of other things you can find that has had stickers on them. Imagine your logo randomly on a STOP sign at a random intersection… That’s free marketing.
And when it comes to flyers, you must do this a certain way for it to work. Print flyers or information cards using a standard home printer. Place them on community bulletin boards, local business counters, or inside books at public libraries that your ideal clients read. Don’t be the one slinging flyers outside, giving people what they deem as ‘trash’.
Chalk Graffiti or Powerwashing Print
This is a fun one that you can have your kids do. Buy a cheap pack of sidewalk chalk. Have a cardboard cutout stencil of your logo or name and let them color it in. Or write bold, attention-grabbing headlines or even your web addresses on public sidewalks near areas with high foot traffic, such as busy business districts or event entrances. This isn’t graffiti because it will wash away, and it’s on public land.
The other fun thing to do is to borrow or rent a power washer and etch your logo into the sidewalk. You’re “half-assingly” washing the pavement. You’re doing them a favor, and this lasts longer than chalk. And it would take a few years for your logo to fade all the way. Perfect advertisement.
Direct LinkedIn and Social Media Outreach:
The old but gold way… Slide up in your prospects DM’s. Find your target clients on social media. Send highly personalized messages that identify a specific gap in their current business operations and explain exactly how you can fix it.
The more you message, the more chances you’re going to get. As long as you don’t use AI to write your message, that is. Sure, it’s a lot of work… but I’ve seen a few freelancers KILL IT by doing this method.
Organic Social Media Publishing:
With the rise of AI… I feel like I should share this. I’m sure you’re already doing this, but you’re doing it via AI. Sure, you can have your AI scheduler… but not to write the posts. You’re to write and post daily insights, breakdowns, and case studies on platforms like LinkedIn, X, or YouTube.
Another quick way to do the UGC content is to use your smartphone to record quick, helpful videos that show your expertise without any editing software. Keep all the ‘uhs’ and ‘ummms’ because studies show that real human experience drives real revenue.
Joint Venture Partnerships:
This is a fun one that I’m participating in. Partner with an established business that serves your exact target audience but does not compete with you. For me, agencies, content creators who hate writing, and publishing companies. For you, I have no clue because I don’t know who’s reading. But when you meet your JV, agree to cross-promote each other through free email newsletters, shoutouts, swaps, or co-hosted online workshops.
You’re able to borrow their authority, letting you be introduced to their audience and vice versa. One more thing you can do with your JV, especially if you’re a writer or marketer, is to help them sell their products on your site for either referrals or monetary gains. But take the referrals… It’s more marketing.
Podcast and Newsletter Guesting:
For the last week and a half, I’ve been told I should do a podcast. The only thing is… I don’t know what I would talk about or call myself. However, if you don’t care and want quick, fun access to thousands of listeners… Create yourself a podcast or newsletter.
Pitch yourself as a guest speaker to industry podcasters or creators of popular email newsletters. Provide high-value training to their audience in exchange for a mention of your business. When it comes to newsletters, make sure you have an ample amount of blogs or events going on. They can get boring and stale really fast. But having people on your newsletter allows for the introverts and shy customers to stay up to date, informed, and maybe compels them to buy.
Online Forum and Community Authority:
Join free communities on Reddit, join your local chambers of commerce, Alignable, SmarketingConnects, or local business events in your area. Be yourself, most of all. And answer complex questions, share detailed guides, and solve problems for members without pitching your services until they ask for your help.
The more information and help you provide, the more experience shows. And the more it shows, the more you’ll get a shoutout or referrals. This has been personally one of the best methods for finding and helping business owners.
In-Person Networking and Meetups:
Attend free local business meetups, chamber of commerce events, or community gatherings. Pass out physical cards or have people scan a free digital business card on your phone to build local connections. On the back of my phone, I have a QR code that brings them to my personal page with all my links.
But act as if you’re yourself. Don’t try to impress people or share too much. And don’t forget, business owners are people too. Maybe they’re going through what you’re going through, so be chill about it.
