Ice, Ice Baby
We just went ice-skating on the weekend, and when we finished, one of my daughters said: “That ice-skating rink wasn’t the best quality. It was kind of bumpy. It would’ve been better and easier to skate if it were completely smooth”.
And I said: “You know what? It was fine. In fact, it wasn’t that bad at all. And you just need to get better at skating”.
And it made me think immediately how so many coaches want their pathway to be completely and totally smooth!
And they won’t “skate” or do what they say they want to do to be successful if the road is bumpy.
They are always waiting for that moment when the stars align, and everything is just perfect for them to start.
The only way forward is through your Paradigm shift...
The thing is that the road being bumpy is what develops you. The road being bumpy is life!
And if you wait your whole life to have a completely smooth pathway, your life will pass you by.
Opportunity will pass you by... Momentum will pass you by... And time will pass you by.

Uppercuts and Butternuts
In life, you never know what you may encounter... Random events tend to pop up out of nowhere... Speaking of, I have an awesome story to share. Don’t worry, I won’t let it drag on for too long.
The other day I saw a homeless man about to box a mother and her kids for some soup... I kid you not... Right in front of Food Lion, between two rusty pickup trucks. I know what you’re thinking... “Where and the heck is he going with this?”... Give me a second, and I will get to that.
Anyway, the lady screamed at the top of her lungs, demanding that her kids run and hide as the dude ran up to them. But the kids decided to stand their ground... Boy, where they were fearless... The Houseless man easily had 200 lbs over the little badasses.
Anyway, the kids who were about the ages of 12 and 14, with no fear, proceeded to fight the man off. And let me tell you what...The man was more shaken than a soda from Michael J. Fox being electrocuted. (Shocking, right?)
Anyway, the man ran off, regretting he’d ever tried to Manny Pacquiao the family. The mother was so proud of her two saviors, and they got in their truck and left... The point I’m getting at is to face your fears and stand up to the unknown...
Like those kids fighting for their butternut squash soup... (I’m sure mom ordered pizza for their valiant effort- wouldn’t you?) And as a freelancer, the follow-up is the unknown... Black & White Bets
Did you know that thinking out of the box is the single most important thing for your business and every facet of your life? Yup, it’s true. I see it every day... Imagine this... in a small town in Italy, there was a business owner who owed a large debt to a loan shark.
The loan shark, an ugly old man, secretly lusted after the businessman’s young and pretty daughter...
So the loan shark placed two pebbles into a bag, one white and one black... And told the daughter to choose one. If she chose the black one, the debt would be wiped, but the loan shark would then marry her. If she chose white, the debt would also be wiped, and the daughter wouldn’t have to marry him.
Standing next to a pebble-strewn path, the loan shark bent over and picked up two pebbles... But instead, he snuck in two identical black ones... Which the daughter noticed.
Now, the daughter naturally had three choices:
Refuse to pick a pebble from the bag.
Take both pebbles out of the bag and expose the loan shark for cheating.
Pick a pebble from the bag, fully well knowing it was black, and sacrifice herself for her father’s freedom.
What do you think she had chosen? She drew out a pebble from the bag... And accidentally dropped it into the midst of the other pebbles.
She said to the loan shark, “Oh, how clumsy of me. Never mind, if you look into the bag for the one that is left, you will be able to tell which pebble I picked.” Knowing he was outplayed, the loan shark was forced to clear the businessman’s debt and leave with nothing.
So why am I sharing this with you?
Just like the daughter, you’re not stuck with the choices presented in front of you. There is always another choice... but it’s up to you to see it. Just like achieving your goals... Boulders
We can all agree that life has a way of placing boulders in our way.
Then it likes to hide behind the boulder and watch to see what we do. Some people choose to simply walk around it and ignore it. Many others loudly blame life for not keeping their roads clear...
But none of them wants to do anything about the boulder being in the way. Then there are us... those who came along carrying a load of vegetables... And always coming in the presence of a boulder...
We have to lay down our burdens and try to push the stone out of our way. And it seems only after much pushing and straining... Something always prevails... We finally succeed. Then after we go back to pick up our vegetables... When we do so, it’s always like there’s a purse lying in the road where the boulder had been.
In the purse is always some type of reward for our effort. This, every obstacle we come across in life allows us to improve our circumstances, and whilst the lazy complaint... The others are creating opportunities through their kind hearts, generosity, and willingness to get things done.
So no matter what obstacle comes across your path... There’s always a hidden opportunity. You got this guy, I’m rooting for you.
The Froggy Mass
As a group of frogs was traveling through the woods, two of them fell into a deep pit.
When the other frogs crowded around the pit and saw how deep it was, they told the two frogs that there was no hope left for them. However, the two frogs decided to ignore what the others were saying, and they proceeded to try to jump out of the pit.
Despite their efforts, the group of frogs at the top of the pit were still saying that they should just give up. That they would never make it out. Eventually, one of the frogs took heed of what the others were saying, and he gave up, falling down to his death.
The other frog continued to jump as hard as he could. Again, the crowd of frogs yelled at him to stop the pain and just die. He jumped even harder and finally made it out. When he got out, the other frogs said, “Did you not hear us?”
The frog explained to them that he was deaf. He thought they were encouraging him the entire time.
Moral of the story: People’s words can have a big effect on others’ lives. Think about what you say before it comes out of your mouth. It might just be the difference between life and death.
